Rimmel VolumeFlash Scandaleyes Mascara
This Rimmel VolumeFlash Scandaleyes Mascara is my new favorite volumizing drugstore mascara. It’s oversized brush reminds me of Covergirl’s LastBlast mascara’s wand but is a non-plastic version of it. This mascara is a little clumpy and thick but I love that when I’m wearing a dramatic smokey eye or just want eyelashes that pop. It’s a very intense black and I like using it to top my Maybelline’s Illegal Length Mascara.
Out of all the Rimmel Mascara’s I have tried this one is definitely my favorite. I spent around 6 bucks on it and grabbed it at my local CVS.
Things To Know:
1. This is a very thick formula. It isn’t super wet but it is not a dry formula either. Somewhere in the middle.
2. I like to use 2-3 coats and do NOT let it dry between coats. I find it looks best when first apply one coat of a lengthening mascara.
3. I think this looks best with a smokey eye or evening look. It’s a little clumpy for an everyday mascara.
4. I did notice a little smudging when I wore this on my lower lash line
5. This will give you noticeably thicker and darker lashes
I would definitely suggest this for anyone who likes a bold eyelash look and doesn’t mind a thicker clumpier formula.

New Favorite Mascara Combo
Due to recent budget restrictions I’ve been working more with the makeup I have as opposed to raiding Target once a week
A few days ago I had purchased Revlon’s Grow Luscious Plumping mascara but had been disappointed with it. This was extra sad for me since I haven’t been buying many new things lately. However, today I found a way to make it work and I loved the look of my lashes with this combo.

Plum Lipstick Haul
Hi everyone
All summer I was obsessed with bright corals, pinks and nudes on my lips but for fall I wanted to try some darker more dramatic colors. I decided a good place to start would be with some gorgeous rich plums. I decided to pick a different color from each of my favorite drugstore brand lipsticks so I have a pretty good variety to talk about.
The first shade I’ll talk about is from the Rimmel Moisture Renew Line in shade Burgundy shine
This color looked more purplish in the tube but when worn is more a reddish wine. It has some goldish flecks in it but they aren’t noticeable when applied. This color is best applied with a brush to prevent feathering around the edges of your lips. I also primed my lips with some concealer before wearing as well to get a more true color. I would also make sure to keep the tube with you during the day so you can touch up when needed. I would wear this lipstick with a neutral or pale gold eyeshadow, winged black eyeliner and a very subtle cheek.
This next color is from Covergirl in the shade smitten. This has a creme shine finish and goes on very pigmented and darker then it looks in the tube. I have a bit of a problem with this formula feathering when I wear it, even if I use a lip liner. I have this issue with a lot of the covergirl lipsticks but I always think the colors are so pretty that I buy them anyways. I would say this is actually a warmer toned purple when you actually have it on. I wore this with a smokey charcoal eye and just a little bronzer to contour my cheeks.
This color is part of the Maybelline Colorsensational line in shade Madison Mauve. It is less pigmented then smitten or burgundy shine and has a bit more glitter in the formula. It’s actually very wearable and looks great with some black eyeliner and lots of mascara on the eyes. I apply this with my finger and usually use a little concealer on my lips before application.
Here is a swatch of the above three shades starting with Burgundy shine, smitten, then Madison Mauve. I feel like all these colors appear alot darker than they swatch so keep that in mind if you purchase them!
Lastly, I’m going to talk about NYX’s round lipstick in the shade LALA. I bought this on a separate day so I didn’t swatch it at the same time as the others.
This color looks a lot like covergirl’s smitten but wears a shade darker on me. I’m always torn about NYX’s round lipsticks. I love the colors but they don’t last very long when I wear them. I have to reapply often and I always have a problem with them feathering or ending up on my teeth! However, I still buy them because they’re inexpensive and some of the colors are really really pretty. This one wasn’t one of my favorites but I’m sure I’ll get some wear out of it this fall and winter season.
I apologize for the poor picture quality! A digital camera is definitely on my must-purchase list! Hopefully these still gave you some ideas though of a few pretty colors to try for fall and winter
Let me know what colors you’ll be wearing this season!

Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer
I’ve discovered my new favorite concealer and it only cost around 5 dollars at CVS. The Rimmel Match Perfection concealer covers amazingly for me and blends in perfectly. A few seconds after application the color does begin to adapt to your skin and hides any redness or dark circles flawlessly. This past weekend I wasn’t feeling very well and when I did leave my apartment I skipped foundation entirely and just wore this concealer! I have a very hard time find concealers that work well enough that I can skip my foundation so that’s saying alot. The color I bought was 245 Light.
The packaging is easy to use, it comes in a squeeze tube with a blending brush on the end. I’m not a huge fan on the brush and I usually end up blending the concealer out with my beauty blender sponge.
I find this works well for me on blemishes, redness and under my eyes which is pretty good for one concealer. My only complaint is I find myself squeezing out more product than I need and even though I’ve only had this tube a few weeks I’m almost out of it. However, this will be a repurchase for me. Love love love this stuff!

Rimmel: Fix and Perfect PRO Primer
Primer is a very important part of my makeup routine. Like I’ve mentioned I have oily skin so if I’m going to get the most out of foundation I need to use a primer first. I’ve tried quite a few Smashbox Photo Finish, NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer and NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer and another one by PIXI that I really liked but I can’t seem to find at the moment so I’m not sure of the name. Anyways, I definitely perfer primers with more of a silicone base. I wasn’t really looking for a new primer but I was at Target this morning buying dog food and accidentally wandered into the makeup section
This Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro primer says it will smooth lines, resurface skin, brighten, mattify and protect. That’s alot from a little drugstore primer that only cost about 6 bucks but I figured I would give it a try. I used it today and I will say I really liked the way my foundation went on. I felt like it minimized my pores and kept me from getting oily most of the day. It does have a bit of a smell but I kind of liked it, plus it seemed to dissipate after wearing it a few minutes. I’d probably put this in my top 2 favorite primers right behind NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer. All in all if you’re looking for a drugstore primer to try out I definitely suggest this one and let me know what you think!
