2 Nudes I love for Spring – 1 High End, 1 Drugstore + 2 dollar lipgloss

I’m still loving my bright lipsticks for spring but the past 2 weeks I’ve routinely been reaching for my more neutral lipsticks.  My 2 favorite at the moment are Mac’s Blankety and Rimmel’s Kate Moss lipstick in shade 113. Blankety is slightly more pink and 113 has more of a peach tone. At first I was a little put off by the scent of the Kate Moss lipstick but the color is so pretty I can get over it. The lipgloss I am obssesed with wearing over both of these is a Forever21 lipgloss called Banana Split. This is the perfect creamy pink nude shade to finish off your pout and the best part is it only costs 1.80! If you can’t find it at the store, it is still available on the Forever21 website here . It’s called Dusty Pink in the swatches, and I am buying multiple backups because I don’t want to ever run out! Check out swatches below:

CK One Color Lipgloss

Ulta recently added CK One cosmetics to their prestige brand collection and so far I’m loving most of the products this brand has to offer. The CK One Color lipgloss is a great formula with nice color payoff, a great scent, and comfortable wear. This gloss gives your lips shine plus color and isn’t too sticky. The applicator is great and as I mentioned, I love the smell and feel of these. The smell reminds me of the Lorac lipglosses, if you like those. The colors I have been wearing most often are Quirky, which is a soft pink with slight shimmer and Show off which is a pinkish deep berry. These are 15 dollars at Ulta and definitely a great introduction to this brand. I didn’t have time to take pictures of any proper swatches but I’ll try and get those up in the next few days!

Maybelline Super Stay Lipstick Wine and Forever + Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation

I’ve been wanting to review the new Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

for a few weeks now so I’m excited to have some free time tonight to get this review up! I purchased the shade 832 nude beige and while it applies slightly pale when I first put it on after a few minutes it seems to adjust to adjust to a perfect match for my winter skin shade.

This particular product is suppposed to give you the staying power of a primer, the coverage of a concealer and the blendability of a foundation. This gives pretty great coverage and still feels lightweight when you wear it. I would say the finish is almost like a powder and very matte. I also love that this has zero scent!  While I have been loving this product most days, I do notice that it can apply slightly patchy and cakey over any dry spots on my face. I normally have pretty oily skin but I’ve had some recent breakouts so this settles around any dry healing spots I have.

I also haven’t quite decided if this applies best for me with a brush or fingers, so I guess the blendability is one area that I think this product falls short.

This foundation has a pump, which is rare for drugstore products and you definitely waste less product and have less mess. I do recommend shaking the bottle before application.

Overall, I think this is definitely one of the nicer drugstore foundations available right now. Covergirl is not a brand I usually gravitate towards when trying foundations so I think this was a great effort on their part in stepping up their game in this area.

Beauty Recap:

1. This has medium to full coverage but still feels light on your skin.

2. This is a matte finish for me and I did not get oily when wearing this

3. Staying power was average for me

4. I did notice this could look patchy when trying to cover any dry areas on my face

5. Great packaging!

I am wearing this foundation in the photos for this post and I think it photographs quite nicely!

The second part of this post is a quick look at one of Maybelline’s Superstay Lipsticks
in the shade Wine and Forever. This is a DEEP wine shade and a very dramatic color. I really like these Maybelline SuperStay lipsticks. They have great staying power but are surprisingly moisturizing. The only con for me is the scent, which is a little too fruity for my taste. For the look I’m wearing below, I just applied bronzer to warm up my face, a slight winged eyeliner and plenty of mascara. Thats all you really need with this lip!

Maybelline Vivids: Fuchsia Flash

My favorite lipsticks at the moment are Maybelline’s newest colorsensational collection called the Vivids. This is just a quick post showing you Fuchsia Flash. In my opinion this is more of a neon pink than fuchshia shade but it’s lovely nonetheless. I paired this with Maybelline’s Bouncy Blush in Hot Tamale. I’ve been watching alot of this season’s Parks and Recreation and I’ve really been inspired by the bright lips and cheeks the leading ladies have been wearing. It’s such an easy way to brighten up your face on a dreary winter day. If you haven’t grabbed any of these shades I highly recommend them. They are super pigmented and long wearing. I love how moisturizing they feel and you can really build up the intensity with these. If you want just a light stain you can do that, but you can also get a super opaque and glossy finish with a little more layering. My one con: These can get a little messy if you put too much on! They definitely smear and smudge if you aren’t careful. I also recommend watching Parks and Recreation, hilarious show :)

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Swatches/Review

Once again I’m swatching and reviewing a few more lip products I have. Revlon Lip Butters rose to youtube fame practically over night so I never really felt the need to post my own review. If you don’t watch youtube videos these lip butters are supposed to be a hybrid lipstick, gloss and balm all in one. They’re pigmented yet still glossy and light-weight on the lips.

My overall thoughts, I do like the formula of these compared to most of my Maybelline or CoverGirl lipsticks. The colors I have are very pigmented, don’t feather outside my lipline or slip around too much and feel light on my lips. I love how wearable the reds and nudes in this collection are. You don’t need lipliner or gloss with these and the packaging feels very high-end. My 3 complaints, you don’t get very much product and because of how creamy these are I find they can get very messy in the tube ( I purposely didn’t clean mine off so you could see what I mean). Also, if my lips aren’t exfoliated this formula really highlights any imperfections in my lips. I also own peach parfait but it was in my car so I didn’t have it to photograph or swatch. I will repurchase all of these colors when I run out :)

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters

The colors I own:

Creamsicle: A peachy nude that I LOVE! This is such an easy to wear color and looks great with a warm smokey eye. This has no shimmer.

Creme Brulee: The most true nude in the collection. This applies slightly beigey on me and can wash me out if I don’t apply a gloss over it. This has no shimmer.

Candy Apple: The name says it all, this is a bright candy apple red and probably my favorite red out of all my lipsticks. This is opaque but doesn’t look too over the top during the day, because it’s a moisturizing formula it doesn’t look pasty or dry on your lips ( does that make sense?) I feel like it’s easy to wear and looks so pretty with a neutral eye and winged eyeliner. No shimmer

Red Velvet: A dark red that looks really pretty for an evening look. Probably the most opaque in this collection. No shimmer.

Cupcake: A bright cool-toned pink. This looks very pretty on but looks fairly frosty in certain lights. Contains shimmer.

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Collection + Swatches

Hey Ladies, I have 5 CoverGirl Lip Perfection shades so while I was cleaning my makeup out I decided to again post swatches of what I have for those curious about colors. If I had to choose which formula I prefer between these and the Maybelline ColorSensational line I think overall I’d have to choose Maybelline. These are great and very opaque but they slide around on my lips a lot. I have a really hard time keeping these inside my lip line so when I wear them I’m constantly having to check myself in a mirror. These are creamy, not drying at all and have a great color selection. You can view my swatches for the Maybelline lipsticks I have here.

From left to right:

Smitten: A creamy mid-tone plum. This goes on very opaque and is definitely a statement color. No shimmer.

Temptress: A bright warm pink. Very opaque and has no shimmer.

Darling: A mauvey nude with barely there shimmer. This would probably be a “my lip but better” shade for a lot of people.

Sweetheart: A light pink with shimmer.

Delish: A nude that wears slightly on the orange side. No shimmer, nice opaqueness

I never wear a gloss over these, they all have natural shine to them. My favorite to wear of these is Temptress! It looks so nice with a tan and is perfect for summer :)

My Maybelline ColorSensational Collection and Swatches

Started sorting through my lipsticks this week and decided to post swatches of all my Maybelline Colorsensational lipsticks in case anyone was interested in any of the colors. Overall, I like the formula of these and will continue to buy them. They have good pigmentation and average staying power. I do find they feather outside my lip line if I don’t line them or use a little concealer around the edges but besides that these are great for the price and have a beautiful color selection.

Colors starting from the left:

Peachy Scene: This is a pinky peach shimmer

Warm Me Up: A mauvey nude, very wearable and doesn’t make you look sick. No shimmer.

Coral Crush: A pigmented reddish coral that’s very bright. This would work great for anyone who is too afraid to wear a true red lip but still wants a bold look. No shimmer.

Coral Lustre: A sheer coral with microscopic shimmer. Would look great with a tan!

Tigerlily Treat: Currently my favorite pink. This is a mid-tone pink with no shimmer.

Madison Mauve: Probably my most wearable plum shade. This goes on slightly sheer and has some shimmer flecks.

Red Revival: A deep brick red shade. This color is super pigmented and rich looking. I always use a brush with this lipstick or it makes a mess.

The first set of swatches was taken with flash and the second in indoor light. While some of these don’t contain shimmer I still wouldn’t consider any of these a true matte finish. They all have a bit of sheen and shine to them, you don’t need any gloss with these.

e.l.f Glossy Gloss Lip Gloss Review and Swatches

These lip glosses have a bargain price tag but are actually awesome quality. I picked up the shades (From top to bottom) Sweet Salmon, Ballet Slippers, Pink Candy and Tangy Tangerine after reading some good reviews on other blogs.

These have actual brushes for the applicator which isn’t my favorite but works nonetheless. My biggest complaint about these glosses is some of the brushes came with bristles that were bent out of shape or too stiff. If these had doe foot applicators they would be perfect.

These have great pigmentation, texture and lasting power.  Many times I find drugstore glosses that are pigmented are super sticky or slippery but these feel great on your lips. The formula is thick enough to provide color, shine and stay in place but they don’t feel gloopy or messy when applied. These don’t feather outside my lip line or settle in any cracks or lines in my lips. While I don’t think they provide any actual moisturizing benefits long-term they feel hydrating when applied.

From Top to bottom: Tangy Tangerine, Pink Candy, Ballet Slippers, Sweet Salmon

These each have slightly different scents, Sweet Salmon, Ballet Slippers, and Tangy Tangerine are very similar to the smell of LORAC lip glosses while Pink Candy smells very very sweet. I chose mostly neutral shades except Tangy Tangerine. This orange gloss is an easy way to wear an orange lip this spring and summer without looking too over the top.

I can’t really pick a favorite shade from these because they all look and feel great. I recommend grabbing all of them if you can since they’re so affordable anyways.

Things You Should Know:

1. These are nicely pigmented for lip glosses. You can definitely wear these alone without a lipstick underneath and still get some color.

2. These are not sticky or gloopy.

3. The packaging on these are great. Compact and easy to throw in a purse of your pocket

4. The applicator isn’t my favorite, but it works.

5. To get the most for your dollar buy these when elf is having a 50% off sale and you’ll only spend $1.50 per gloss!

6. If you’ve been wanting to wear this spring’s color orange, get the tangy tangerine for a wearable everyday lip that is still on trend

Lorac: Naked Lace Eye, Lip, Cheek Collection

Just a quick review on another value set I purchased recently. This one is from Lorac and I mainly purchased it to try out the mini lip glosses that it came with. I’ve been hit or miss with Lorac eye shadows but the ones that came with this set are amazing! The baked Lorac eyeshadows that I tried were super chalky and the ones that I had in a palette broke right away. However, this set came with little shadow pots and I can’t say enough good things about them.

First, the lace clutch this came with is so pretty. I love anything with black lace and nude color so I instantly liked this. This doesn’t feel low quality at all and I could see myself using this as an actual clutch for a night out. Packaging gets an A+

Next, the lip glosses!!! I’m obsessed! The colors this came with are Vintage, which is a true nude shade, Trend setter which is a peachy pink with a slightly shimmery look but no actual glitter, and last Muse which is a great nudey pink. These are available to purchase in full-size outside of the set and I have to buy them. The smell of these are amazing. It’s like a cinnamon marshmallow? Haha I don’t know it’s hard to describe, but if you’ve used the Lorac Tantalizer Bronzing lotion it is the exact same smell. These are very creamy and do have some opaqueness to them. While they are thick enough to be pigmented they don’t feel sticky. I need to buy Vintage and Muse, they are so pretty and perfect colors on me. I’ve been wearing these alone and over lipsticks and they work great either way.

From Left: Vintage, Trendsetter, Muse, Negligee, Boudouir, Rendezvous

These eyeshadows are great everyday shades. The texture is very creamy and they blend like butter. If you aren’t very good with eyeshadows these would be very easy for you to use. While these colors are not available outside of this set I believe these are the same formula and packaging as Lorac’s normal single eyeshadows. Boudouir is actually a more taupey plum than in this swatch and it makes a perfect crease color. Negligee is a champage cream color and makes a great highlight because it isn’t overly shimmery but I also have been wearing this all over my lid or in my inner eye. They are just great, easy to use shades.

The blush is a great classic peachy pink called Rendezvous. It works really well with the other items in this collection and just gives my cheeks a nice natural flush. It’s not matte but the shimmer in it is still wearable everyday.

Overall I think everything in this set is great quality and it’s a great neutral collection to have. You can wear everything and look super natural but you can also use boudoir to smoke out your eye and easily transition to an evening look. I think this is an excellent group of items to keep in your purse for fast touch-ups at work and to take you from a day to night look. I’m really pleased I didn’t miss out on this ( I got it during a sale on hautelook) so if you see it for sale online or at a store grab it!

Cheap, Creamy, Conditioning AND Pigmented! Elf Studio Conditioning Lip Balms

I don’t know what I do without these lip balms! My lips have been so dry this winter, I’ve been trying chapsticks, balms, and lip butters and nothing has been helping. This weekend when I was going through my lipstick drawer I found these Elf lip balms and pulled them out and they have been working wonders on my lips. I loved these when I bought them but since the packaging is a little bulky they ended up at home most of the time but now that I’ve rediscovered them again these guys will be staying in my purse.

I have a lot of hits and misses with Elf products, some things are awesome others are useless but these are high quality.  Many balms I’ve tried can be super waxy but these are so creamy and hydrating that it makes up for the fact that they are in these bulky jars. I hate sticking my finger in products but since these are creamy you can use a lip brush if needed. These contain vitamin A and E as well as SPF 15. They haven’t made my lips peel at all or caused any irritation around my mouth.  Another great thing about these balms is the color payoff. The website says they provide sheer color but the red shade I have (romantic rouge) has amazing color payoff. If you are nervous to do a red lip I would definitely recommend purchasing that shade. I also have nice and natural which is a great nude shade. It hides my lips natural pigmentation without washing me out. The staying power of these is pretty decent as well. My lips don’t feel dry again for 2-3 hours which is much better than with the chapsticks I’ve been using. Best of all these are only 3 dollars. I purchased mine during one of the 50% off sales so I only paid $1.50.  You can’t do much better than that!

The top shade is Romantic Rouge and the bottom swatch is Nice and Natural.  I plan on purchasing Peaceful Pink and Mellow Melon.

Things To Know:

1. The packaging on these aren’t great but you get alot of product and because of the creamy texture of these you can use a lip brush

2. These are not sticky or too shiny

3. The staying power of this product is probably 2-3 hours

4. I highly recommend Romantic Rouge for a super easy to wear red lip

5. Elf products can be purchased at Target or online at this link http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/lips/lip_balm/studio_lip_balm  ( I sometimes have a hard time finding certain Elf things at Target)
