Wearable Turquoise Navy Eye + Bronze Gold Cheeks

What I Used:
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation (see my review here)
Revlon ColorStay Quad in 540 Inspired (see my review here)
Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box
Benefit Cosmetics They’Re Real! Mascara
Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Mascara (see my review here)
MILANI Baked Bronzer in Golden
love & Beauty Bronzer (see my review here)
Revlon Colorstay Lipstick in Soft Nude
Revlon Lipgloss in Peach Petal
NYX Slide on Pencil in Sunrise Blue
I have a hard time wearing color on my lids but I wanted to find a way to wear this spring’s turqouise trend on my eyes. I came up with this simple smokey eye that’s subtle enough for me to wear but still has a pop color.
1. Apply Foundation and eyelid primer
2. Apply shade 2 of Revlon Quad from lashline to crease
3. Intensify color using Urban Decay’s Flipside shadow
4. Apply shade 4 from Revlon Quad into crease. Blend.
5. Apply a small amount of love & beauty bronzer to the center of your lid for added depth
6. Using NYX slide on pencil smudge under lower lashline and onto lower water line
7. Smudge love & beauty bronzer underneath lashline and apply to tear duct
8. Add lots of both Mascaras for a dark and defined lashline
9. Contour with the Milani Bronzer and then blend out as a blusher
10. Use the love & beauty bronzer as a higlight along the tops of your cheek bones
11. Apply lipstick and gloss

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation + Soft Daytime Makeup Look

I’ve been loving the last few drugstore foundations I’ve purchased, including my Revlon Nearly Naked in the shade 130 Shell. This foundation gives you a great natural look while still covering the majority of your imperfections. I’ve read a few reviews saying this left people with oily skin after a few hours, but I have oily skin and I haven’t had any issues with shininess or oil. This picture below is actual my makeup after an 8 hour workday with no touch-ups so the staying power is really good on me. I do use a primer, my favorite at the moment is the Smashbox Photofinish More Than Primer Dark Spot Correcting Primer. I also always powder my t-zone. Their is no fragrance detectable to me with this product and I have been blending this with a round-top buffing brush. The only con of this product for me is the packaging, anytime you have a foundation without a pump things can get a little messy. I give this foundation an 8/10
The rest of my makeup is what I’ve wearing on a daily basis lately. It takes me 10 minutes and all of these products last all day for me with no need for any real touch-ups. For my eyes I use my Too Faced Natural at Night Collection. I apply nightcap from my lashline to my crease and Cocoa Star in my crease. I use spotlight as my highlight. You could use any mid-tone brown for this with a deeper brown in your crease. The key is keeping everything soft and blended. Then apply a bright pink blush, I used my Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Blush and for my lip I used this New York Color Smooch Proof Lip Stain
in the shade Persistent Pink ( This lip stain costs less than 5 dollars!) . I skip the eyeliner to save time and use a few coats of mascara for definition. This is a fresh and easy look that would be easy to replicate with products you probably already have.

love & beauty Sun Kissed Bronzer
Forever 21 may not have the most high-end beauty products but I love grabbing whatever beauty steals they have displayed when I’m waiting in line to check out. This pretty bronzer was only 3 dollars and I couldn’t resist the packaging! For only a few bucks this looks lovely swept across the tops of my cheekbones. The bronzey gold pigment of this swatches nicely and isn’t overly glittery. A great find!

Maybelline Super Stay Lipstick Wine and Forever + Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
I’ve been wanting to review the new Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation
for a few weeks now so I’m excited to have some free time tonight to get this review up! I purchased the shade 832 nude beige and while it applies slightly pale when I first put it on after a few minutes it seems to adjust to adjust to a perfect match for my winter skin shade.
This particular product is suppposed to give you the staying power of a primer, the coverage of a concealer and the blendability of a foundation. This gives pretty great coverage and still feels lightweight when you wear it. I would say the finish is almost like a powder and very matte. I also love that this has zero scent! While I have been loving this product most days, I do notice that it can apply slightly patchy and cakey over any dry spots on my face. I normally have pretty oily skin but I’ve had some recent breakouts so this settles around any dry healing spots I have.
I also haven’t quite decided if this applies best for me with a brush or fingers, so I guess the blendability is one area that I think this product falls short.
This foundation has a pump, which is rare for drugstore products and you definitely waste less product and have less mess. I do recommend shaking the bottle before application.
Overall, I think this is definitely one of the nicer drugstore foundations available right now. Covergirl is not a brand I usually gravitate towards when trying foundations so I think this was a great effort on their part in stepping up their game in this area.
Beauty Recap:
1. This has medium to full coverage but still feels light on your skin.
2. This is a matte finish for me and I did not get oily when wearing this
3. Staying power was average for me
4. I did notice this could look patchy when trying to cover any dry areas on my face
5. Great packaging!
I am wearing this foundation in the photos for this post and I think it photographs quite nicely!
The second part of this post is a quick look at one of Maybelline’s Superstay Lipsticks
in the shade Wine and Forever. This is a DEEP wine shade and a very dramatic color. I really like these Maybelline SuperStay lipsticks. They have great staying power but are surprisingly moisturizing. The only con for me is the scent, which is a little too fruity for my taste. For the look I’m wearing below, I just applied bronzer to warm up my face, a slight winged eyeliner and plenty of mascara. Thats all you really need with this lip!

Maybelline Vivids: Fuchsia Flash
My favorite lipsticks at the moment are Maybelline’s newest colorsensational collection called the Vivids. This is just a quick post showing you Fuchsia Flash. In my opinion this is more of a neon pink than fuchshia shade but it’s lovely nonetheless. I paired this with Maybelline’s Bouncy Blush in Hot Tamale. I’ve been watching alot of this season’s Parks and Recreation and I’ve really been inspired by the bright lips and cheeks the leading ladies have been wearing. It’s such an easy way to brighten up your face on a dreary winter day. If you haven’t grabbed any of these shades I highly recommend them. They are super pigmented and long wearing. I love how moisturizing they feel and you can really build up the intensity with these. If you want just a light stain you can do that, but you can also get a super opaque and glossy finish with a little more layering. My one con: These can get a little messy if you put too much on! They definitely smear and smudge if you aren’t careful. I also recommend watching Parks and Recreation, hilarious show ![]()

January Gem: Garnet eye with peachy lip

I love using any sort of garnet or rust colors because I think the undertones really make the green in my hazel eyes pop. The Lorac Pro Palette has a very nice garnet shade conveniently named garnet and I like this one because it isn’t too red as to make you look sick or tired. I use the gold shade in this palette in the center of my eye to add dimension to my lid. To intensify everything I used lots of Benefit’s They’re real mascara and a Kohl pencil to line my upper and lower waterline. On my lips I used Revlon lip butter in Peach Parfait. Revlong lip butters are one of my favorite lipsticks and I like this color because it’s still somewhat neutral without washing you out. On my cheeks I’m wearing a mix of L’oreal Project Runway blusher in the color The Muse’s blush mixed with Smashbox blush in the shade everlasting.

Mascara I’m Loving: Maybelline the Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara

I haven’t seen many reviews on this mascara which surprises me because I think it is one of the better mascaras to come out lately. This is a volumizing product that adds fullness and length to your lashes without applying too clumpy or wet. It has a plastic bristle brush with a flat tip and the opening of the tube pulls out just the right amount of product. The brush is a bit large but I don’t have an overly difficult time reaching my inner and outer lashes. The flat tip kind of threw mOne of my friends compared this to Urban Decay’s Big Fatty mascara but said the Rocket Volum’ was better and cheaper. Too see this mascara on my lashes you can click my Lorac Day and Night post. This mascara is a 9 out of 10 for me and definitely worth trying.

New Year, New Hol
After a rather rough past year, this year I plan on making myself over inside and out. Life is short and I don’t plan on taking anything for granted, especially my health and happiness!
One of the first things I plan on working on is staying healthy and in shape. I’ve recently started a 30 day Green Smoothie challenge ( Thanks for my new blender mom
) and I plan on coupling that with twice a day workouts. Benefits of green smoothies include:
1. Natural energy booster
2. Natural weight loss drink
3. Simple way to boost your immune system
4. Full of disease-fighting antioxidants
Tonight I finished my smoothie prep for the next 7 days. Here is where I found the information for this healthy challenge. I can’t wait to see how I feel at the end of 30 days! I was surprised at how delicious these things actually tasted, and I don’t think I’ll have any trouble sticking to my goal. You can’t feel beautiful on the outside until you are healthy and happy inside.

Save 15 dollars: Dupe for Tarte EmphasEYES Amazonian Clay Cream Shadow in Slate
I love Tarte cosmetics but I also love saving money, so for anyone interested in this Tarte EmphasEYES Cream shadow in slate, skip the 19 dollar purchase and buy Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Shadow in Bad to the Bronze. These 2 colors swatch nearly identical (Bad the Bronze is slightly deeper) but you will get much more staying power with this 6 dollar dupe. You can read my original review on Maybelline’s Color Tattoo shadows here

Red Lip with Smokey Brown Eye
NYX’s Matte lipstick Indie Flick is probably the most fun red lipstick I own. This color has a serious orange undertone that adds a brightness that really makes this shade pop. Red Lipstick can be very high maintenance but this entire face takes me 10 minutes and I’m out the door. I keep the eyes simple by using the shade Nightcap in the Too Faced Natural at Night Palette. I blend this all over the lid and slightly above the crease then using the same color I smoke out my bottom lashline. I used Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara and lined my upper and lower waterline with a black NYX pencil. I contoured and added color to my cheeks with the BH Cosmetics 10 color palette sticking to the warmer shades. Then just throw on Indie Flick and I’m out the door.
